Lunge riding

This is the first element every future rider, who begins the adventure with horse riding, should start with. During lunge riding the horse is led along the circle on a special line (lunge), which is a few meters long, the other end of the line is held by the instructor who controls the horse with the lunge, so that the person who learns the very ropes of horse riding can concentrate on balance exercises, holding the right posture, learning the correct seat, etc. A single lunging lesson takes 30 minutes.

This is how our horse riding instructor, Agnieszka Sadkowska, summarised the idea of lunging:

One of the members of our club, Mr Arkadiusz Sokołowski, during his 3rd lunging lesson:

What to wear?

Coming to the lesson you should wear flat-sole footwear; if the shoes are laced – the laces need to be tucked into the shoe, in order to minimise the risk of having the laces tangled up with something. Additionally, you should wear trousers which are tight on the calf (riding breeches, track suit), in order to guarantee the freedom of movements.

Safety

Horse riding helmets are obligatory for all our riders, irrespective of their age.
Protective vests are obligatory for persons under the age of 18.

The persons below the age of 18 will be furnished with a helmet and a protective vest for the time of the rides, while adults can be provided with the above accessories depending on their availability.

Where and when to come?

Before the first lunging lesson, it is good if you come 10-15 minutes earlier, before the planned lesson time and directing your steps towards the old stable (building No. 5 on the drawing).

Detailed information on the directions to our club can be found in the Contact.
